Varanasi the sacred city on the Ganges

Varanasi is both a tourist city and it is a sacred pilgramage city on the Ganges River for the Hindus. It is an incredible mix of colors, people, sights and sounds, that has to been see up close to really get the feel of this place. This was my first stop after coming back into India from Nepal. On the way, I picked up a traveling companion, a 58 year old german on his first visit to India. His English was pretty good, but his accent was strong, so I had better luck communicating with the locals. We shared a room at a nice hotel, the Ganges View, which was about 50 yards from the Ganges. The Ganges is horribly polluted with human and industrial waste, otherwise it would have been wonderful to go for a swim, but I decided to pass up the opportunity.

Dave,
Looks like a great trip. Have you seen any fakers?
I will need to take a good look at a map to see where you are.
How's the food? Any good local treats? Sounds like the street food and water is as bad or worse than Mexico.
Stay well and keep on posting.
All is well here.
ML & I had dinner at Dad's. He is looking good. Margaret stopped by as well. After dinner Dad shooed us out . I guess he wanted to sleep.
Later, Brother Paul
